Terms of Service
"If you want to keep a secret, you must also hide it from yourself."
Table of Contents
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Sentinel Free and Sentinel+, the optional companion plugin. By installing, activating, or using either plugin, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
What Sentinel Is
Sentinel Free is the standalone activity log and remains installed. Sentinel+ is an optional companion plugin that extends Free. It has its own version, starting at Sentinel+ 1.0.
- Sentinel Free: The standalone activity log. It remains installed.
- Sentinel+: An optional companion plugin, versioned on its own from Sentinel+ 1.0. It records what changed, opens incidents, shows line changes in watched files, sends alerts, and emails a weekly report. It is not a second version of Free, and it is not a licence typed into Free.
Subscriptions & Licensing
License Scope
Sentinel+ is a yearly subscription at £99. Each subscription includes one licence key that can be active on up to 3 production websites at the same time. A site opened at localhost or 127.0.0.1 counts as development and does not use one of those activations. A site on any other hostname uses an activation, including a staging site.
Activation Limits
A production website uses one activation. Activating a site that is already on the key does not use another. You can release a production site from your account and use that activation on a different production website. A fourth production website cannot be activated until one of the three is released.
Subscription Requirements
- Sentinel+ records new changes while the key is active, and while a renewal payment is overdue
- When the paid period has ended, or the key is revoked, Sentinel+ stops recording
- History already stored by Sentinel+ stays readable
- Sentinel Free keeps its own log either way
If a renewal payment fails, Sentinel+ keeps recording while that payment is overdue. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Sentinel+ keeps recording until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops. A renewal of the same subscription keeps the same key and the same sites. The key, the sites on it, and Plus history on the website are not deleted. Sentinel Free stays installed.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis through our support team. While refunds are not guaranteed except where required by law, we will consider refund requests for:
- Functionality issues that we cannot resolve
- Unresolved technical problems
- Accidental purchases that have not been used
To request a refund, contact us at our contact form
Restrictions
You may not:
-
Resell, redistribute, or sublicense Sentinel.
-
Share your license key with third parties outside your organization
-
Use your licence key on more than 3 production websites at the same time
-
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass Sentinel’s licensing system
-
Modify Sentinel’s code to circumvent licensing or security features
-
Use Sentinel for any unlawful, harmful, or malicious purposes
Ownership & Intellectual Property
A Sentinel+ subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Sentinel+ companion plugin on up to 3 production websites. Sentinel Free is separate and remains the activity log. This licence does not grant you ownership of the software or any intellectual property rights.
Warranty Disclaimer
Sentinel is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that Sentinel will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all WordPress themes, plugins, or hosting environments.
We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of logged events, nor do we guarantee that Sentinel will detect or prevent all security threats.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sentinel and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Data loss or corruption
- Website downtime or performance issues
- Conflicts with third-party plugins or themes
- Security breaches or unauthorized access
- Loss of profits or business opportunities
Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with Sentinel is to discontinue use and, if applicable, request a refund in accordance with our refund policy.
Payment Processing
All Sentinel+ purchases are processed securely through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store, process, or have access to your payment card information. All payment data is handled by Stripe in accordance with their privacy policy and security standards.
Cancellation
You may cancel your Sentinel+ subscription at any time through Stripe or by contacting support. Cancellation will:
- Stop the next renewal
- Leave Sentinel+ recording until the end of the period you have already paid for
- Stop Sentinel+ recording when that period ends
No refunds are provided for partial billing periods. Plus history on the website stays readable, the sites stay on the key, and Sentinel Free keeps logging.
Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service as Sentinel evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Sentinel after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must discontinue use of Sentinel and cancel your subscription (if applicable).
